Kaixo! My name is Imanol Botxo Manzisidor. I just have arrived to New York and had no idea about the existence of the Basque Club until one friend spoke me about it. I'm glad to know that there is part of the basque history in New York. I would like to visit your installations. I live in Brooklyn, not very far from the club is. But is it open every day? Anuyway I'll try to have a look one of these days. Thank u very much for your attention. Imanol-

Hi Peter, my name is Michele and I knew Angel and Alys very well. They were my parents witnesses at their wedding, Angel is my brother Alex's godfather, and Alys gave my mother the idea of naming me Michele. I believe Alys has a niece named Michele. Ihave tons of pictures and fond memories of both of them. I was a dancer and Agnel was our txitulari. He was the number one fan of the Athletic de Bilbao (soccer). His cadellac was huge and both had the energy that all the young people loved. You can be sure to be proud of both. My mom loved them both and all the events we shared together would be too long to list. Many have and will always remember them. Musu handi bat. Michele

Peter, My family were members of the NY Basque club for many many years. I remember going to the club when it was in Manhattan and my dad painting the new place in Greenpoint when they moved. As a result, I participated in several Aberri Egunas throughout the mid to late 70's as a dancer (sorry but I wasn't too happy about it at the time). Anyway I have very fond memories of your aunt and uncle through that entire period. Angel and Alys were very kind and patient with us kids. I think I remember Angel as being a court officer.

Dear Peter Nardelli. I met your uncle Angel Vina about 1993 while he played his txistu and danboril during an Aberri Eguna celebration at the club.I admired him and felt pride of our roots.he kept playing the txistu probaply until five years ago. After he passed we received his txistu and tanboril and a portray painting of himself. if you would like to nkow more about the person who brought them to the club will be able to tell you more since she knew him for a long time. Hi. My uncle was Mr. Angel Vina from Cranford, NJ who passed about 5 years ago at the age of 87. He and my Aunt Alys were very active in the NY Basque Club throughout the 1970's and 1980's as far as I can remember. Do any of you remember them? We were quite close. Alys passed in 1993. She was my mother's sister. Angel, or as we affectionatly called him Uncle Jack, was originally from EA in Biscay Spain. We don't know when he emigrated here. Best guess would be in the 1930's to Brooklyn. He and my Aunt Alys married in 1965 and lived in Cranford, NJ from then on, no children. My mom, aunt, and their siblings grew up in Brooklyn. Jack knew my Aunt's first husband very well. When he passed in 1962, then Jack and Alys became very close. We have photos of them performing at your club, at weddings, etc. If you could shed any new light on them, please send an e-mail back. Thanks very much !!

Philip Uruburu (unverified): About two years ago I sent to the NY Basque Club a "Centro Vasco Fondador 1913" medal that was given to me by my Grandfather Benito Uruburu that either belonged to him or his brother,Tiburcio Uruburu. I never herd what became of it? I am hoping that it is on display at the club, as I believe it is the only one known to exist. Anyone with any information on its whereabouts please e-mail me at [email protected] Thanks, Philip Uruburu

My grandmother Juliana came to America in the 1920's and met up with her sisters Martina and Dominga. She married my grandfather Manuel Martinez and raised 7 children in Brooklyn, NY. Her maiden name was San Anton, her father was an orphan let at the church of that name. I visited the home (in Mundacca) where she grew up when I went to Spain in 1970. I was facinated to know there are actually websites with so much Basque information.

Hello Dear Basques! I am Circassian from the Caucasus. Right now i reside in New Jersey, pretty close to the city. I would like to meet you and get closer to you because i believe there is some certain connection between you guys and us the North-West Caucasians (Circassians and Abkhazians). Tell me please if you have some events up there in your club in the near future.
